Skewed Priorities in Government Run Education

23 August, 2007 by Matt Robison

I’m not in 100% agreement with every view and opinion that is projected in the Mallard Fillmore comics, but every once in a while, Tinsley, the artist, really hits one out of the park.

He has the ability to draw out and highlight the truly absurd, much like the Daily Show with John Stewart is able to do.

Take this one, for example:

public education and sex

This represents so much of what is wrong with public education nowadays. When government gets involved in anything, the incentives and priorities tend to grow skewed over time.

    Ah yes, remember when schools had to answer to parents instead of the government? . . . Well, neither do I, but that’s how it SHOULD be!

      Well since parents are practically forced to send their kids to school anyway, what incentive is there to please them? They have their tax money no matter what they do.

      And I don’t remember the so called “glory” days either.
